Where Every Meal Becomes a Memory
Cook. Celebrate. Connect.
A community kitchen and gathering space in Kirkland, WA — where “let’s get together” actually happens.
World in a Dish was born from a simple idea: the best moments happen around a table. This is a place shaped by the people who walk through the door — hands-on, in person, over food made together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer cooking classes?
Yes! We offer hands-on cooking classes and unique experiences led by talented instructors. Check the calendar above to see what’s coming up. Classes typically run 2.5–3 hours, include all ingredients, and you take home recipes after class.
What’s the difference between a class and a private event?
Classes are scheduled on the calendar — browse, sign up, and pay instantly. Private events are your own reservation at any available time. You submit a request, we review within 24 hours, and you can optionally add instructor guidance for a hands-on cooking experience.
Can I book a private cooking event for my group?
Absolutely! Reserve any available slot on the calendar. We’ll review your reservation and confirm within 24 hours. You can add instructor guidance for a hands-on cooking experience. We can even arrange experiences at your home — contact us at info@worldinadish.com.
Is this a catering service?
No — World in a Dish is a community kitchen, not a catering service. All guided experiences are hands-on: you cook, you learn, you eat what you create together. That’s what makes it special!
Is the security deposit refundable?
The deposit is separate from the rental fee. It’s refunded within 7 business days after your booking, provided the space is returned clean, undamaged, and vacated on time. Think of it as a safety net — most guests receive it back in full.
Can I cancel or reschedule my kitchen rental or private event?
Kitchen rental and private event bookings are non-refundable but eligible for store credit based on timing: 7+ days before = full store credit. 3–6 days = 50% store credit. Less than 3 days = non-refundable. Need to change your date? Cancel for store credit and rebook — store credit applies automatically at checkout for future kitchen rentals. Your security deposit is always fully refundable if the space is returned clean.
Can I cancel or reschedule a cooking class?
Cooking classes are sold through Eventbrite and follow Eventbrite’s refund policy and our event-level settings — generally, refunds are available if cancelled more than 7 days before the class; cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable. Specific terms are shown at checkout on each class listing on Eventbrite.
What should I bring?
That depends on your event! For cooking, bring your ingredients and recipes. For meetings or gatherings, just bring yourselves. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the space is flexible enough for cooking events, presentations, classes, small conferences, and casual get-togethers.
How many people can the kitchen hold?
Up to 25 guests. If you need space for more, contact us at info@worldinadish.com.
What happens if I don’t show up to my kitchen rental or private event?
No-shows forfeit the rental fee and security deposit. If you can’t make it, cancel before your booking start time to receive store credit.
What happens if I don’t show up to a cooking class?
Class no-shows follow Eventbrite’s policy — generally non-refundable. To be eligible for a refund per Eventbrite’s terms, cancel through Eventbrite before your class starts (subject to Eventbrite’s refund window shown at checkout).
What kinds of events can I host?
Almost anything for up to 25 guests! Cooking parties, meal prep sessions, team building, birthday celebrations, small conferences, workshops, classes, presentations, community meetings — if it fits 25 guests and respects the space, you’re welcome here. Contact us at info@worldinadish.com if you have questions about your specific event.
Do I have to cook?
Not at all! While the kitchen is a highlight, the space works beautifully for non-cooking events too — meetings, presentations, workshops, or simple gatherings. The kitchen is there if you want it.
Do you offer catering?
We don’t offer catering or food services — World in a Dish is a community kitchen and gathering space, not a restaurant. You rent the space and bring your own ingredients to cook together, or you’re welcome to have food delivered or bring prepared dishes to your event. That’s part of what makes it special — it’s your kitchen for the day, and you make it your own!
What kitchen equipment is available?
The kitchen is fully loaded! We have 3 ovens, 3 microwaves, 2 dishwashers, a full stovetop, and a refrigerator, plus small appliances like blenders, a food processor, juicer, coffee maker, and stand mixer. All cookware, utensils, plates, glasses, and flatware are included too. You really just need to bring your ingredients.
Can I deep fry in the kitchen?
Deep frying is available during instructor-led classes and experiences under chef supervision. For private kitchen bookings without an instructor, deep frying is not permitted for safety reasons.
When do I need to start cleaning up?
We ask that you begin cleaning up about 30 minutes before the end of your reserved time. This gives everyone time to wrap up, wipe down surfaces, run the dishwasher, and exit on time. Late departures may result in additional charges.
Are there TVs or screens available?
Yes! The space has two smart TVs you can use for presentations, pulling up recipes, playing music, or whatever your event needs.
Is there a minimum number of guests?
No minimum — even one person can book! Whether it’s a solo meal prep day or a group of 20, the space is yours.
Why am I being charged sales tax?
As of October 1, 2025, Washington State requires retail sales tax on cooking classes, workshops, and live presentations (ESSB 5814). The current rate for Kirkland is 10.4% (6.5% state + 3.9% local). Sales tax is calculated at checkout and shown as a separate line item. For more information, visit the Washington Department of Revenue.
